Chinese drone reveals' beast mode 'for the first time, with 16 missiles equivalent to heavy firepower
Recently, Nigeria, a major importer of weapons from China, exposed photos of its exported Pterodactyl 2 "Beast Mode" military equipment mounted on drones. The drones were loaded with 16 air to ground missiles, a quantity comparable to that of other weapons, and received full marks from customers.
Chinese drone reveals' beast mode 'for the first time, 16 missiles are equivalent to heavy firepower?
Recently, Nigerian military enthusiasts posted on Twitter photos of their army's equipped Pterodactyl 2 reconnaissance and strike integrated drone mounted on the ground, revealing for the first time the "beast mode" of the export drone, which can mount 16 missiles at once and can be described as "full of martial arts".
I saw that the Wing Loong 2 drone was equipped with 6 wing mounted pylons, of which 4 small pylons were loaded with 12 "Tianlei 2" air to ground missiles, and the remaining 2 medium-sized pylons were loaded with 4 "AG300/M" air to ground missiles. The 16 missiles were considered to be relatively strong. The Tianlei 2 air to ground missile and AG300/M air to ground missile are advanced weapon systems introduced by the Nigerian Air Force from China. The former has a range of 6 kilometers, while the latter has a range of 18 kilometers.
According to analysis, the combat effectiveness of the Yilong 2, which is fully equipped with 16 missiles, is comparable to that of a heavy armed helicopter. However, it must be clarified that if a heavy armed helicopter wants to carry all missiles, although it can carry up to 16 missiles at most, the ground missiles carried by the heavy armed helicopter are all "heavy" (equivalent to light air to ground missiles of drones) missiles.
For example, the Apache heavy armed helicopter of the US military can carry 16 AGM-114 air to ground missiles, but this missile weighs 45-50 kilograms and has a much greater range than the Thunderbolt 2 air to ground missile equipped on the Wing Loong 2. The only weapon in the Wing Loong 2 that can be compared to the AGM-114 is the AG300/M air to ground missile, which weighs about the same and has a significantly better range than the AGM-114. However, the Wing Loong 2 can only carry four rounds of this missile.
Therefore, it can be said that the fully armed "Beast Mode" of the Wing Loong 2 can carry a considerable amount of ammunition, but its strike efficiency can be compared with medium-sized armed helicopters. However, for a conventional reconnaissance and attack integrated drone, this strike capability is also considered a "leader" among similar products in the world.
The Nigerian military is a major customer of Chinese weapons. As a major North African country, Nigeria's navy and air force purchase a large number of domestically produced advanced weapons from China. The army purchases China's most advanced export tank VT-4, and also purchases 300 armored personnel carriers, anti mine ambush vehicles, and armored vehicles from China. The navy has just purchased two foreign trade versions of the Type 056 from China as its main warships.
