Four rotor unmanned aerial vehicles have once again become a hot topic in the Russia Ukraine war
In the Russo Ukrainian War, civilian grade quadcopter drones once again became an important reconnaissance tool on the battlefield. The Ukrainian military frequently uses drones for video reconnaissance and even surprise attacks, while the Ukrainian infiltration team carries a large number of DJI drones to infiltrate the rear of the front line, playing an important and even the only reconnaissance platform role in ambushing Russian convoys.
The use of civilian grade quadcopter drones by the Ukrainian military began during the 2014 Ukrainian crisis. At that time, the Ukrainian military had weak combat readiness, poor technical capabilities, and a lack of formal reconnaissance platforms. The use of newly emerging civilian grade quadcopter drones was a temporary measure for emergency treatment. As a result, these platforms have played a good role and successfully met the tactical reconnaissance needs of the Ukrainian military.
During the 8-year period from 2014 to 2022, Ukraine consciously increased the scale of use of civilian grade quadcopter drones. Many of the personnel who undertake filming work in Ukraine are actually veterans, and they also maintain a high frequency of drone use after retirement. Therefore, Ukraine has accumulated a large number of experienced drone operators during this period, which can provide sufficient personnel to carry out drone infiltration work with infantry units.
At the practical level, Ukrainian drones can provide Ukrainian military units with extensive aerial reconnaissance capabilities. Although the resolution may be slightly insufficient and unable to cope with effective camouflage, the Russian military convoys they strike often swaggere forward on the road, and civilian grade quadcopter drones are sufficient. In terms of artillery firepower, these drones even serve as artillery correction aircraft.
